Transmission Pricing and Discounting Information

The following is a table of transmission prices that Westar Energy charged under its Open Access tariff prior to April 1, 1999.  After this date all Point-to-Point Transmission Services have been sold through the Southwest Power Pool (SWPP) using its regional tariff.  Please refer to the SWPP OASIS to request service and to receive pricing. 

Requests for redirected firm Point-to-Point service sold under the Westar Energy OATT or prior contracts are still made through the Westar Energy OASIS.

The customer is responsible for supplying all losses.  A table of the Westar Energy's  loss factors can be found on this site.

Pricing for Ancillary services are listed in the table below.  Westar Energy does not discount its tariff rates for ancillary services.  Requests for purchasing ancillary services must be made through the Southwest Power Pool in conjunction with requests for service under the rules and regulations of that tariff.

Starting December 22, 2006, Westar Energy started charging new rates for Ancillaries 2 and 6 pursuant to Docket No. ER06-1471.

  Notes:

  1. All  new requests for point-to-point transmission service must be made through the Southwest Power Pool.
  2. The Scheduling and Dispatch service must be purchased from Westar Energy. The charge for this ancillary is based upon the energy scheduled at the POD.
  3. The Reactive and Voltage Control service must be purchased from Westar Energy.
  4. A customer whose POD is within the Westar Energy control area must have these services. They may be purchased from Westar Energy, provided by themselves or purchased from a third party. If the service is not purchased from Westar Energy, the customer must demonstrate that they have purchased the service from another source capable of supplying it or that they have the proper resources to implement the service when needed.
  5. The billing demand shall be 1.35% of the Reserved Capacity under Part II and Monthly Network Load for Transmission service under Part III.
  6. The billing demand shall be 1.67% of the Reserved Capacity under Part II and Monthly Network Load for Transmission service under Part III.
  7. The billing demand shall be 2.3% of the Reserved Capacity under Part II and Monthly Network Load for Transmission service under Part III.
  8. The billing demand shall be 1.65% of the Reserved Capacity under Part II and Monthly Network Load for Transmission service under Part III.
